February 26, 2010 10:20 AM- In the list of 40 "Best U.S. Companies for Undergraduate Internship" J.C. Penney has been ranked 27th in the Bloomberg BusinessWeek 2009.
Bloomberg BusinessWeek did the survey on internship and for this it collected data from top 40 employers. Then the evaluation of the survey was done based on the given information like number of interns hired each year, compensation given, real world experience given and so on.
JCPenney hire 100 interns during every summer for 10-week assignment. These interns are hired to work at JC Penney stores and also at home office. These interns then work in the merchandising, information technology and marketing division. Intern Sales Manager undergoes training on job as well formal learning with the help of self study material. Also the online training courses and televised classes helps the interns at JCPenney.
The chief human resources and administration officer for JCPenney, Mike Theilmann said that valuable internship experience is their best recruiting tool that also attracts the best talent. He further said that such a distinction by BusinessWeek is surely a symbol of commitment and selection of JCPenney for retail career.
