QuiltsA quilt is a coverlet or blanket made of two layers of fabric with a layer of cotton, wool, feathers, or down in between, all stitched firmly together, usually in a decorative crisscross design. Each quilt is the result of meticulous cutting, arrangement and hand-piecing with the painstaking needlecraft of yesteryears. Rich fabrics such as silk, cotton, satin etc may be used to make quilts. Quilt creates a warm bedding and bring about a radical change in the look of the bedroom.

Quilting Process

The layers of fabrics are joined together by the process of quilting. Quilting is the technique in which at least two fabric layers are joined together to make a thicker padded material, using the help of stitches or ties. It is basically a sewing method, which can be done by hand, by sewing machine, or by a specialist longarm quilting system. A quilt is thus produced using the quilting technique. Usually, the quilters use a needle and thread to join two or more layers of material to make a quilt.
